Introducing the Vail Valley Green Guide

Presented by The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability & The Vail Valley Partnership

Consumers are increasingly making buying decisions based on a company's environmental initiatives.  Many businesses have responded by greening their products or business practices.  But there has never been a way in the Vail Valley to communicate your green message to potential customers.  Until now.  Your customers are looking for you - help them find you with the Vail Valley Green Guide.

The Vail Valley Green Guide is a local directory of green products and services as well as an educational resource with green tips, waste reduction information, and other resources for more sustainable living in our unique mountain resort community.  To advertise in the Vail Valley Green Guide complete the online application.

The 2nd annual EverGreen Ball a "green tie" soiree, is back for its second year.  This uncommon event is different from anything you've experienced before.  The ball is both a raucous party and a learning experience.  On Saturday, August 14th at the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek, this year's ball promises to leave you with a smile and new ways to think about our world.

Sole Power Challenge of Vail

The Town of Vail, the Vail Recreation District and Friends across the Eagle Valley are excited to bring you the Sole Power Challenge – a free summer contest designed to help us all reduce our carbon footprint, get fit, and save the planet and dollars all at the same time!

Sole Power Commuting Saves Money

Bicycle commuting creates instant return on the investment by using the simplest “biofuel” – human energy. For instance, consider the money saved by riding a bike to work. Factor in the car’s rate of gas mileage, the distance ridden, and the price of fuel. An American example: A car gets 25 miles per gallon; gas costs nearly $4 per gallon; the commute to work is 7 miles one way.

Roundtrip, that particular ride saves about $2.24 each time. A bike commuter averaging three to four rides a week just for the summer saves about $180. And consider it a free gym membership, besides. Commuting to Vail from Eagle, for example, a few times a week in the summer can save about $672!

Recon and Habitat Home Outlet have merged

All RECON operations have moved to the Habitat Home Outlet Store in Gypsum.  This merger means one stop shopping for ALL your building material needs.

Habitat Home Outlet - Collects donated furniture, appliances and reusable building materials and sells these items to the community at a deep discount. All proceeds go to building affordable housing for hard working families in need. The store also diverts approximately 286 tons of materials each year from ending up at the landfill.

Directions - Take I-70 to the Gypsum exit 140. Head east at the roundabout and pass in front of the gas station and restaurant. You will see our warehouse with big blue sign!  500 Trail Gulch Road, Gypsum, CO Click here for map
